A one World Religion – Mystery Babylon
Introduction
The last study of this series looks at the end goal of Satan, which is the establishment of a one-world religion in rebellion to God. The Antichrist, who is possessed by Satan, will head the Last Days religion and receive the worship of mankind. Satan through his control of the Antichrist will be able to impose his will upon the world. Ruling from Jerusalem and being worshipped upon the Temple Mount by mankind will be the pinacol of Satan’s achievements. So, what will that one-world religion look like?
The Council of Trent (1545-1563) and Vatican II (1962-1965)
In an attempt to clarify Rome’s position in regard to the progress of the Protestant Reformation, the council of Trent denied every Reformation doctrine decreeing 125 anathemas (eternal damnations) against the Reformers. It is of interest to note that none of these anathemas has been annulled. The Vatican council of 1962 convened to ratify the proclamations of the Popes, referred to the proclamation of the council of Trent repeatedly, quoting the proclamations made as an authority and reaffirmed them – no changes to the council of Trent decrees were made. Pope John XXIII made a speech in which he stated that he accepted all that was “decided and declared” in the council of Trent. Ultimately, he had no option but to do so, as the proclamations of all Popes are ex cathedra (infallible), so to deny previous Popes’ doctrines would be to deny the authority of the Popes and the Roman Church. The Roman Catholic Church believes that it is the ultimate authority, what she says goes, she is the Mother of Prostitutes, who opens her arms wide to draw all faiths back to her bosom (Rev. 17).
The proclamation at Vatican II did make one dramatic change, the council determined that Protestants were no longer “heretics,” but were in future to be referred to as “separated brethren.” As the Roman Catholic Church sees itself as the true church, its ecumenical activity has the goal of bringing Protestant churches and other religions under the authority of the Pope. This is made clear in paragraph 4 of the Decree on Ecumenism which states “… when the obstacles to perfect ecclesiastical communion have been gradually overcome, all Christians will at last, in a common celebration of the Eucharist, be gathered into the one and only Church in that unity which Christ bestowed on His Church from the beginning. We believe that this unity subsists in the Catholic Church as something she can never lose …” The ecumenical deception of the Roman Catholic Church has worked. In an interview with Time Magazine (October 16, 1989), Archbishop Runcie of the Church of England told them that he had given a special ring to Pope John Paul II, explaining that the ring was “an engagement ring” between him and the Pope as a promise of the future union between the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church.
Then on October 31 1999 representatives of the Lutherans and Roman Catholics met in Augsburg Germany and signed joint declaration on the subject of justification, so five hundred years of protesting which began with Martin Luther, the founder of the Lutheran church, came to an end. The Roman Catholic Church now says that as there is no longer a need to be a protester, so all Protestants should return to the Roman Church. The Roman Catholic Church is misusing the word Protestant in their explanation, as Protestant is made up of two Latin words pro (for) and teste (a witness to the truth). So, a Protestant is a person who stands for the truth of the Word of God.
The definition of ecumenical, then, for the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church, is to bring all churches under the pagan traditions of the Roman Church. It is these traditions that the Reformation Fathers so protested against, that they were willing to die rather than submit to the authority of the Pope and the Roman Church’s vile practices.
On the 22nd of May 2013 Pope Francis opened the doors of the Roman Catholic Church to all, stating that “the idea that we cannot all do good is a form of closeness, a barrier.” He went on to say that we must be doing good things, the Lord redeemed everyone (not only Catholics) with Christs blood. Even atheists will be redeemed all you need to do is be good. So, Pope Francis made the criteria for salvation to be good works, if a person was Roman Catholic that is great, but if not, it is not a problem, all that is required is for the person to do good and that would be sufficient. Apparently now all you have to do to attain a pass to heaven through the Roman Catholic Church is to be a good person.
Kenneth Copeland is an American televangelist and pastor of the Eagle Mountain International Church. He preaches the “health and wealth” gospel, the belief that faith can increase one’s wealth. During a conference at Kenneth Copeland centre in USA (21-23 Jan, 2014) the Roman Catholic Bishop, Tony Palmer, told the conference that Catholic means universal, so if a person was a born-again believer, they are Catholic. According to Palmer all denominations of Protestants are once more accepted within the Roman Catholic Church, the miracle of unity has begun and as there is no more protesting, there cannot be anymore Protestants. Copeland then confirmed Bishop Palmer’s statement saying that Protestants were people of love, so how could people of love be called protesters, he went on to say that there were “no more Protestants, we are no longer protesting.” The language used is very deceptive, as people of God love the Truth that is found in God’s Word, and are called to expose deception:
“But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed (anathema)” (Galatians 1:8-9).
“I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them” (Romans 16:17).
Yet another deception that was presented that night was Tony Palmer saying that the message he was preaching on was about “the Glory not the doctrine,” for him to say Glory is more important than doctrine is to intentionally lead people astray, and open the door for man’s wisdom to contaminate God’s Word. A follow up to this conference occurred on the 23 June 2014, at the invitation of the Pope, Kenneth Copeland met with the Pope in Rome. The goal was to reach an understanding of the common ground shared between the two religious’ leaders.
Confirmation that the move to a one-world religion (Babylon Religion) is being led by the Roman Catholic Church, occurred on in 2015 when Pope Francis declared that the “Koran and Holy Bible are the same”:
Further efforts at unifying world religions under the banner of the Roman Catholic Church occurred on 3-5 February 2019, the Pope travelled to the United Arab Emirates to sign the historic Abu Dhabi Declaration. Pope Francis together with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, signed a document on “Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together,” and it invites “all persons who have faith in God and faith in human fraternity to unite and work together.” All the people of the world were asked to rediscover and spread “the values of peace, justice, goodness, beauty, human fraternity and coexistence.” Through his actions the Pope sent a strong message about interfaith tolerance, a message he would carry throughout his trip.
Pope Francis is following through with a declaration that was made on the 21 November 1964, at the second Vatican council, that the plan of salvation also included those that acknowledge the creator. The Muslims would be at the top of this list, as they profess to hold the faith of Abraham and also believe in a one great merciful God, who on the last day will judge all mankind.
Climate Change a Tool for Globalisation
Globalisation, is a movement that seeks to break down national and cultural boundaries and unite humanity in a one-world government. The main tool to unite mankind is environmental concerns, especially climate change. The Pope has recognized this and has made a decisive effort to become a leading force in the global concern for the environment. The Roman Catholic Church has become part of the globalist agenda becoming the religious leader, in a drive for a one-world government with a one-world religion.
In 2015 Pope Francis made an urgent appeal for a new dialogue on “how we are shaping the future of our planet.” He then asked theologians and scientists to work together on the document, to serve as a blueprint to galvanize people toward engaging on climate concerns.
Then in 2019 Pope Francis said “future generations stand to inherit a greatly spoiled world; our children and grandchildren should not have to pay the cost of our generation’s irresponsibility. Indeed, it is becoming increasingly clear, young people are calling for a change.”
When the Pope called Joe Biden to congratulate him on his election win, becoming president of the United States, a major part of their conversation was on climate change and a pledged to work together on environmental action.
To emphasize the extent Pope Francis will go to show his commitment to the globalist environmental movement, in September 2019, the Vatican held a gathering of those concerned with man’s abuse of the Amazon environment, titled The Amazonian Synod. As part of the gathering, idols of Pachamama the mother earth goddess of the Amazonian Indians, was prominent and received Liturgical worship (public worship performed by a religious group). The idols brought by the South American Indians were then kept at the Vatican. To understand the extent of this abomination, it is important to recognise that the Incas worshipped the Earth Goddess Pachamama by offering her multiple human sacrifices. A man who claims to represent Christ on earth welcomes a blood-soaked demonic goddess into his presence and observes her being worshipped, and believes her worshipers are children of God!
At the conclusion of the Vatican’s Amazon Synod, the Pope insisted that the world must “listen to the cry of the earth,” a message delivered by Pachamama. When asked if the image of Pachamama was Christian or pagan by observing journalists, Bishop David Martínez de Aguirre Guinea of Peru, said:
“Probably those who used this symbol demonstrated, wishes to reflect fertility, to women, to life, the life presence among these Amazonian people … and Amazonia is meant to be full of life. I don’t think we need to create any connections with the Virgin Mary or with a pagan element.”
The translation to be made from this statement, is that the individual is allowed to draw their own conclusions, whether you are Christian or pagan it does not matter.
An extremely revealing announcement was made by Pope Francis on May 14 2020, that exposed both his humanistic philosophy and his support of globalism. He invited leaders of world religions and globalist agencies, as well as leaders in the world of politics, economics, science and education to be at the Vatican. At the meeting these influential people signed the Global Education Pact which aimed at bringing about a “new humanism.” When the Roman Catholic Church was asked to explain the meaning of “new humanism,” Archbishop Vincenzo Zani, secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education (the organiser of the event), responded saying: “God ‘withdraws’ in order that man might be free… in the moment when God creates man, he gives him intelligence, heart, and the capacity for activity, and he tells him: ‘Go!’” Mankind takes centre stage in the eyes of the Roman Church, he knows best, man’s wisdom rules supreme and God, it seems, is forced into the background. Although this statement by Vincenzo Zani is shocking for most Bible Believing Christians, it is not so for the Roman Catholic, as the Pope is God on earth. With the Pope directing world events, this means for the Roman Catholic that it is equivalent to God’s hand moving, for them God is not distant, He right there working through the Pope!
The next globalist bombshell from the Pope occurred during Earth Day on the 22 April 2022, Pope Francis issued a disturbing New Age pronouncements address, when he announced to all his followers that they need to ask forgiveness from the earth. This statement would more likely be attributed to a Hindu guru, who teaches pantheism, believing the earth is a part of God, and therefore is God, rather than the Pope who should believe that the earth is a created planet. His speech was filled with scriptural error designed to elicit guilt from his audience. For example, Pope Francis said “we are called to renew our sense of sacred respect for the earth, for it is not just our home but also God’s home.” The earth is God’s creation, not His home, God dwell in heaven at the moment, and when the New Earth is created (Rev. 21) He will dwell with mankind on earth.
Pope Francis went on to say: “We have polluted and we have despoiled it (the earth), endangering our very lives. For this reason, various international and local movements have sprung up in order to appeal to our consciences. I deeply appreciate these initiatives; still, it will be necessary for our children to take to the streets to teach us the obvious: we have no future if we destroy the very environment that sustains us.” All believers should agree that having been given dominion over the earth by God requires that we be good stewards of the earth, however, for the Pope to advise children “to take to the streets,” is an invitation to protest, and a call to radicalise the cause. The speech by the Pope was not one a man of God would give, it was rather more fitting for a politician with a specific agenda – a one-world government, with a one-world religion headed by the Pope.
The focus of the Roman Catholic Church is not on God’s Word and a desire to bringing people to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus, it is concerned with social issues such as elevating poverty and environmental problems such as climate change. The aim of the Roman Catholic Church is clear, Pope Francis has called for a global government to tackle the climate change agenda, and a call from a “new humanism” to place man’s wisdom above God’s Word, the solution to man’s problems is, according to the Pope, a one-world government. God is no longer in the picture; mankind is replacing Him and the Pope wants to be that replacement.
A Check List of Prophecy
There are many prophetic scriptures that indicate that the Roman Catholic Church is the Great Whore of Revelation 17, the apostate church out of which the Antichrist will rise. The reader needs to ask themselves what other religion has its home in Rome and meets all the criteria given in the prophecies. None come even close! Yet Roman Catholicism scores 100%, there can be no doubt that Satan’s plans for the Last Days are being played out through the Roman Catholic Church. God gives us the information for a number of reasons:
- To be forewarned of the deceptions of the Apostate Church, and to not only avoid them, but to make a stand against them especially in the realm of spiritual warfare and prayer.
- To understand that the goal of Roman Catholicism is to amalgamate Christianity back under her control, and destroy any dissenters to that goal. The Jesuits are priests that swear an oath of loyalty to the Pope and have that very goal as their reason to exist. If The Roman Catholic Church is a peaceful religion, one must ask why the Jesuit organisation which is the religious equivalent to the KGB still exist?
- The Queen of Heaven strongholds dominate with their demonic powers in societies around the world, and continually work to oppress evangelical activities by the true Church.
- Believers have the responsibility to warn of the deceptive activities of the Great Whore, and the future consequences that she will bring to the earth – the Antichrist and seven years of Tribulation.
Hebrews 6, an indicator of Revivals
After Constantine opened the door for paganism to enter the Church, and Church fathers such as Augustine introduced the philosophies of man into church doctrine, the Roman Catholic Church accelerated downhill on a path to complete apostacy and corruption. The Dark Ages was the inevitable result, where Church traditions, pagan beliefs, superstitions and corruption dominated the Church.
A study of the major revivals that God brought to the Church over the ages, reveals that God enabled the Church to move stage by stage out of the Dark Ages, with each stage cleansing a distinct part of the apostasy that had contaminated the Dark Ages Church. The amazing step-by-step process of cleansing the contamination of His Church by God, follows the Foundation Principles laid down by the author of Hebrews in chapter 6:
Foundation principles (Hebrews 6:1-2):
1. Repentance from dead works.
2. Faith in God.
3. Baptisms.
4. Laying on of hands.
5. Resurrection of the dead.
6. Eternal judgement.
According to the order determined by the list of Foundation Principles, the next revival will be the fifth revival, and associated with the Bride of Christ totally removing all remaining traces of man’s wisdom, thus preparing a spotless Bride with no residue of the Dark Ages, ready for the return of the Bridegroom – the resurrection referred to as “the rapture.” The sixth and last foundation principle will be the sheep and the goat judgement, which will take place on the return of Jesus at the end of the Tribulation and determine who will continue on to live with Jesus during the Millennium. The Bride of Christ then, has an immense responsibility to sound the warning for both the impending rapture and the return of the tribulations of the “Dark Ages,” under and apostate faith headed by the Roman Catholic Church, which will be dominated by man’s philosophies and apostacy (2 Thess. 2:3). There will be no revival until the Bride of Christ commits to her responsibility of cleansing the last vestiges of the Dark Ages. This also means that there will be no rapture, Jesus is not going to return for a Bride that holds to the anti-Semitic doctrine of Replacement Theology, that rejects the concept of His rule over an earthly Kingdom, a Kingdom which will include the nation of Israel. All traces of pagan traditions and man’s wisdom will also have to be cleansed from the Church. In other words, the Church will have to return to the pre-Constantine era of the early Church, which the book of Acts called “the Way” in Acts 9:2. It is worth noting that this early community of believers were refined by persecution.

An important observation relating to the past five revivals must be made. As each revival did not go far enough, the church denominations formed during each revival period are becoming part of the ecumenical church and consequently they are being drawn back into the arms of the Mother Church – Roman Catholicism. An example is the Reformation leaders, who rejected the Dark Age traditions of the Roman Catholic Church, and started churches which were “reformed” and cleansed of the traditions of Roman Catholicism and the authority of the Pope. A look at the Reformation churches today will show that they are a part of the Ecumenical Church, and in the process of returning to the fold of Roman Catholicism, such as the Lutheran and Presbyterians. The Anglican Church which was not strictly part of the Reformation, rather, it was formed due to the hubris of King Henry VIII. However, the Archbishop of the Anglican Church is very keen for his denomination to once more be reunited with Roman Catholicism.
The Awakening revival focused on “Faith in God,” and took the Church two steps further away from Roman Catholicism. Yet these churches also failed to go far enough and are being drawn back into the Roman Catholic Church. This includes denominations such as the Methodist Church with its social gospel; The drive to evangelise the world by John Wesley, has become a drive to eradicate poverty. The social gospel links the Methodist Church with the socialist agenda of Roman Catholicism and the Pope having temporal authority.
The Consequences of the Rapture.
“Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God… And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way” (2 Thessalonians 2: 3-7).
Paul begins by explaining that the rapture will not occur until there is an apostacy (rebellion) in the Church, which allows for the rise of the Antichrist (man of lawlessness). Paul then explains the consequence of the rapture: When the Church is raptured, the work of the Holy Spirit in hindering Satan will come to an end (taken out the way). The Bride of Christ hinders Satan’s work through diligent prayer, prayer in faith is required for Holy Spirit to move in power. With the removal of the Bride in the rapture, prayer will cease and so then will the actions of the Holy Spirit. Satan’s plans will take a quantum leap forward enabling Him to establish his false messiah, the Antichrist, and the Tribulation will commence.
The Church then has a major responsibility in these last days to inform the lost of the coming rapture, the Tribulation period will be a last opportunity for the unsaved to make a choice to serve God. Those who have been given a knowledge of End Times prophecy, will have ample evidence of it being fulfilled around them. This will be the impetus these people will need to make a decision to follow Jesus, even though it means they will have to live through the Tribulation, and face the persecution of the Antichrist.
A Logical Conclusion
One cannot help but be amazed at the detailed accuracy John has given for the Roman Catholic Church as the great Whore of Revelation 17 and 18. No other religious institution comes close to fulfilling the requirements. The Roman Church stands out on its own.
With the counterfeit Mary being the symbol of the Roman Catholic Church, we must conclude that it is she who is riding the beast – the Antichrist in Revelation 17. We can then say with confidence that the Antichrist must come to power through the Roman Catholic Church. The logical assumption that may also be taken from Revelation 17, is that the Antichrist will be the Pope who will partner with the “Whore” of Revelation (the Roman Catholic Church) to bring about a one-world religion. That is, when taking into account the evidence found in the ten details that describe the Great Whore, and the extremely revealing verse three of chapter 17, which describes the beast (the Antichrist) as being covered in profane names.
Further evidence of Roman Catholicism being the Great Whore is:
- The vast influence of paganism in the Roman Catholic Church.
- That Rome is situated on seven hills.
- That Roman Catholicism is an apostate church.
- God calling believers out of her.
No other religion comes close to meeting all the prophecies, for example no other religious leader is a king and high priest – only the Roman Catholic Church and the Pope meet all the prophetic requirements.
The Antichrist is defeated by the returning King of Kings and Lord of Lords – Jesus – at the battle of Armageddon. Then the Antichrist and the False Prophet are thrown into the Lake of Fire and Satan is bound for 1000 years. Jesus “the Son of David” sets up His Millennial Kingdom, ruling on the throne of David in Jerusalem (2 Sam. 7:12-16; Isa. 9:7). The Millennium Kingdom will be ruled with a “rod of iron” (Rev. 2:27), and the Word of God will establish and the will of God will rule on the Earth. The “Seed of the Woman” will have triumphed.
Conclusion
The conflict between God and the leader of the Whore of Babylon is predicted by God in the Garden of Eden – The seed of Satan (the Antichrist) will be at enmity with the seed of the woman (Jesus). How this conflict will play out is revealed in type through the narrative of Moses and Pharaoh. Initially it is Pharaoh who hardens his heart to the call by Moses that he should release the Jews, but scripture records that the last plagues are brought about because God hardened Pharaoh’s heart. So it will be in the last days, mankind has had nearly 2000 years to repent and accept Jesus as Lord, but they have hardened their hearts. Because of mankind’s rebelliousness, God will harden their hearts even more, and give mankind what they desire – the opposite of Jesus – a counterfeit messiah that John calls the Antichrist. Paul warns of God’s judgement in 2 Thessalonians 2:8-12:
“And then the lawless one (Antichrist) will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendour of his coming. The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason, God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness (emphasis added)”
God’s patience with mankind is fast running out, and soon He will hand mankind over to a reprobate mind (Romans 1:28). Just as Nebuchadnezzar was mentally deranged because of pride for seven years, so mankind because of his rebellious pride will be given corrupted minds for seven years. Minds that will endure the Trumpet and Bowl Judgements and still not repent because they will believe that man’s wisdom is superior to God’s. God however will triumph in the end with the Jesus destroying the rebellion with the Word of His mouth (Rev. 19:15).
Sound the Warning
